Teacher Code of Conduct

Every teacher accepts this when they apply. It is short on purpose — these are the things that would cost a student their trust, and breaking them costs a teacher their place here.

1. Be who you say you are

  • The identification and selfie you submit must be your own and current.
  • Describe your qualifications honestly. Claim an ijazah only if you hold it and can produce it.
  • The person who teaches the lesson is the person on the profile. Do not hand your account to someone else.

2. Safeguarding

Many of your students will be children, learning at home.

  • Keep every interaction within the platform, where it can be reviewed if there is ever a concern.
  • Never ask a student for personal contact details, addresses, social accounts, photographs or money.
  • Never arrange to meet a student in person through Raed.
  • Dress and present appropriately, and teach from a suitable setting.
  • If you have any concern about a child's safety, report it to us immediately.

3. Teach well and reliably

  • Open only the hours you can genuinely teach, and keep them accurate.
  • Turn up on time and prepared. If you must cancel, do it as early as you can.
  • Repeated no-shows and last-minute cancellations will end your place on the platform.
  • Correct recitation with care. Where a matter is disputed among the scholars, say so rather than presenting one view as the only one.

4. Respect

  • No harassment, discrimination, or comments about a student's background, ability or appearance.
  • No proselytising between schools of thought, and no political campaigning in lessons.
  • Do not record a lesson, or share a student's work, without their consent.

5. Keep it on the platform

Taking a student off Raed to avoid the fee removes the protections both of you rely on — verified identity, escrowed payment, the refund policy and a route to complain. Doing so will end your account.

6. If you break this

Depending on what happened, we may talk to you about it, remove your verification, or close your account. Safeguarding breaches are acted on immediately and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
